The outside rear corner of my rocker arm cover area appears to be leaking a little oil that falls right on top of the exhaust pipe. Is this a common problem with these engines? It's 77 model 400 cid. I am going to replace the gasket and try some sealer. Any recommendations would help. Thanks.

are these old gaskets?
did you just replace them?
what valve covers?
what kind of gaskets?
did you already use sealer?
put them on dry?

valve cover gaskets get old and leak after time

I found that on stock valve covers that have been over tightened in the past, the holes where the bolts are get bent inward, not allowing the gasket to get compressed at the corners. By tapping the holes back level it might help seal the leak.
