hi kids. i have this annoying rattle in my 70 roadrunner that i just cant find. it seems to be coming from the passenger side front someplace. i have been over this car with a fine tooth comb a dozen times trying to find it. it sounds like a shock......but the shocks are tight. i thought it might be the sway bar bushings , so i replaced all with new.tranny mount is tight and engine mounts are good. i secured all loose brake and fuel lines....and still it is there. i superbly greased all front end parts.....still there. the car has a new power steering box and the arm that comes off of it. the only thing i did not replace is the idler arm,,,,THATS NEXT. if i am missing something, i sure would like to know what it is......that rattle is makin me CRAZY !

I have a rattle inside the door part of the trim is loose haven't got in there yet to find/fix it you check inside the doors?

Have you checked the lower control arm pivot shaft?

I had a similar problem with our '71 Charger. It ended up being in the disc brake on the passenger side. There was a part missing from one of the caliper attaching bolts. It's there to keep the caliper from rattling back and forth. A mechanic diagnosed the problem for me by driving down a bumpy street. The rattle was there until he lightly stepped on the brake. The rattle was gone until he released the brake pedal, then the rattle would return. If you have disc brakes, you might give it a try.

ill check all of those things. im pretty sure its nothing in the door...it really sounds like its underneath someplace. that pivot shaft might be a winner. ill let you guys know when i get under there again. thanx all !

A very hard thing to check but some of the line workers with a sick sence of humor were known to have placed things in the frame rails when these cars were new that would rattle around.

Exhaust pipes bumping against the floor pan? I used to have this problem with my 'Cuda back in the day. A little reworking of the pipes fixed it.

no,,,its gotta be coming from the suspension on the passenger side. i have checked EVVVVVVVVVVVVRYTHING. i can feel it in the floorboards.its probably the HARDEST thing to replace....with my luck its the pivot bushing lower control arm.....god forbid it be something easy!

It's never something easy LOL Ha Ha

It kind of sounds like either the lower control-arm or upper control-arm bushings possibly, looks like you've pretty much covered all the other items.... I have seen a guy I know, that dropped a bolt in between the header pipe/tube & torsion bar, the rattle drove him "crazy for years", until he changed his leaky header gaskets & found the bolt jammed between the header & the torsion bar, no rattle now...

ok...i just consulted the MOPAR BIBLE....and changing the lower pivot shaft bushings doesnt look all that difficult. ill tackle this in the spring. while im at it i think ill replace ALL of the front end parts....ball joints etc etc. ill probably only have to do this once....hopefully ! thanx for all the help you guys/YINZ ROCK...(pittsburgh slang n@ )
