Here's the scoop.. My 65' Satellite has factory power brakes, with a stock 440 swap in place of the orig. 318, my other two Ply's (65' & 66') are Manual brake cars. The power brakes on the Satellite don't feel much better or different then the manual ones. Any way of testing the booster for leaks or a bad check valve???? all hoses and connections are good - no leaks around the unit.
My shop manuals have NO test procedure other then just replacing it!!

Thanks for the help....

If the booster is tight you should get one good boosted stop with the engine off. I believe there is a rubber seal that goes between the master cylinder and booster that seals the push rod. Could this be missing :edgy:

how to check a brake booster

if the booster is off the car, and you hook the intake vacume to it, should the rod go in immediatly or does that just make the rod go in easy when you push on it???

It's been a while since I tore into my Bendix unit, but I think the pedal rod has to move to operate a valve mechanism that allows the vacuum assist to work.
