70 Chevelle. My new neighbors dad just finished building it. He brought it over to his sons house and it got hit hard. I was directly across the street 10 ft away and watched it happen. I was sick to my stomach and will be getting a secondary policy through Hagerty for the Coronet.

That's sucks even if it is chebbie

That's gotta hurt no matter what kind of car it is. I hope the owner wasn't responsible, and that he wasn't hurt in the accident.

I felt real bad for the guy. It hurts more when you build it yourself. To go through all that work and its gone that quickly... I was stunned. The kid had shown me pix of the car a few weeks ago. I'm walking down the street and recognize it from the pix and 5 seconds later it was done.

Looks like it smells like fresh paint.

Considering the cost of a quality paint job, time and effort it is a labor of love. Having had to work for the money or put your own sweat, skin and blood into it, that really hurts.

I am with everyone else on this one....I really feel for the guy who built this classic. I hope he had good insurance!

I know that feeling. That top picture is exactly what happened to my '72 RR. Smashed right up to the axle. It was parked on the street like everyone else's. I swear these cars seem to have tractor beams pulling in terrible drivers.

Man. I hate to see that. I'm paranoid enough driving the Belvedere with all of the crappy drivers on the road around here. Like Dave said, old classics seem to draw bad drivers.

What a shame, that was a clean car too, nary a hint of body filler can be seen in any of the damaged panels

I cannot even imagine how the Owner must feel. I would be sick to death.

I doubt it. The tub, frame and front end are ruined. Even if he went surgical on the tub and had the frame straighten the car would never be the same. Just finished and a total wash. It's all up to insurance now.

IF some IDIOT ran into my car like that I am afraid of what my reaction WOULD CERTAINLY be! I am sick for this guy, I don't care what kind of car he built.

From the pictures it looks like he was hit in the drives rear and pushed forward?
I'm going to "assume" the other driver was at fault and this was preventable.
I'll then stick my neck out and say some people don't need to be driving.
I drive a classic on the interstates here everyday.
Hang up the cell phone.
Don't tail gate.
Don't shoot gaps.
Etc.

boy when those were new I remember fixing them like that and worse , they didn't total stuff they do now :steering:

Damn shame. My buddy had a 70 Chevelle SS when we were young. FAST car. Lotta fun to drive. His got totaled too. Was at a red light, looked up in his rear view mirror and a car was barreling down the road. Rear ended him, the rear was in the backseat. He was lucky he was wearing his seat belt and only got banged up.
