I have been looking at picking up a 1966 Fury III four door for the engine, which is supposed to be a 440 but may be a 383 according to the current owner. I have tried in vain to use all the online decoding sites to no avail. Could someone please give me a hand. I am interested in the car for the 440, not really for the 383, and since the car is about 3 hours away I have no way to inspect it before buying it.
On the line below the upper case ABC it has a 615, which if I am correct should be the engine code. I also have the vin number but I don't think that helps with engine identification.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am first in line for the car but need to let the current owner know something by Monday morning. Thanks.
