1967 Dodge Coronet. Inherited from my great grandmother. I replaced almost everything on it. In 1997, someone broke the antenna off. I replaced it this year when I finally got life out of the way so I could get it on the road. It had been parked since '97. I replaced the antenna w a new one that was a direct reproduction. $150+ if I remember correctly. 1 drive through car wash and it broke off at base. My great grandparents took this car through car washes weekly for 30 yrs and never a problem. Is there a better replacement for this antenna? I don't want to attempt to pull the fender to install an electric antenna. Any other ideas or "known" fixes? Thanks.

With today's car washes, I don't think the original antennas can survive this. The first time I ran my 2006 Dodge truck through a car wash the antenna came out bent. It is a one piece solid antenna if you are not familiar with them. I replaced the antenna and now keep it finger tight just for that reason. I remove it before a car wash. 68-70 antennas can be done the same way, but you are out of luck on a 66-67 antenna.

I know it's not original but I used one from a '74 Satellite for my '67 Belvedere. The feature I liked is the antenna unscrews from the base. IIRC I needed to enlarge the fender hole a bit but it's been working great since the late 1980's. I know I didn't remove the fender either.

Yep move to a 69 and up antenna they screw off the base. No need to remove the fender to replace the antenna just pull the splash shield at the back of the wheel well for access.

The '69 antenna will mount like the factory '67? If so, perfect.

Today's washes are actually easier than the 70's washes. But yes, my '03 Ram had antenna bent and bent the fender where it mounts. I now do the same, leave it finger tight.

Not sure on the hole size difference but if the hole is smaller in 67’ just enlarge it.
