This is my second 118 max air hammer that's given out on me, it's a kick *** piece,,,,when it works,,,is it just my luck? I'm getting ready to bite the bullet and grab a snap on one off the truck, I just wanted to know if anyone's dealt with or heard of anyone dealing with one.

This is gonna sound stupid but here's the deal with IR stuff. It's great quality. The thing is, it's so badass that it beats itself to death. Same is true for their super duty impact wrenches. They have double hammers inside them instead of conventional single hammers. They beat themselves totally to pieces. But while they are working, they are some of the most powerful air tools money can buy.

i usually buy the blue point airtools off snap on. cheaper but very reliable. im a diesel mechanic by occupation so use them very often and have had no problems. just make sure to oil them

I tell you what.....I will put up an IR231C against anything Snap On makes and I garrantee you it will kick it's *** if it's a 1/2 impact and in the same class. Them IR products are the sheeot. And if you keep them lubed, they will last.

As far as air hammers go, this is the sh!t, doesn't get any better then this! Use it almost daily. just my opinion.

I agree with you guys as far as IR and chicago pneumatic tools being great they're actually my first choice before seeing what SO has to offer , I had a talk with my snap on rep today and he let me try the PH3050B and I gotta admit I was sold instantly that thing was just BRUTAL he offered to take my 118 max in for some credit but its dead, I hope IR gets wind of what's going on and fixes the problem,,,hopefully it's not an expensive fix so I can have a spare I'm not a " nothing but snap on"kinda guy but I need my tools to be reliable and the few SO tools that I have DO NOT dissapoint.
