NO, not my wife either. :nono:

I going to put in a new kitchen floor, so the 20 year old built in is gonna come out. Have a Frigidare, really never had an issue but I've heard quality has dropped over the years. Then was leaning towards Samsung... till I read the reviews on the model I liked. Then today looked at a nice Bosch... till I got on line and read the reviews... Dung around a little more, now I'm leaning closer to an LG model. Any one have a recent experiences?? :dunno:

we have Kitchen Aid dishwasher....been a very good unit, quiet as well. All our appliances are Kitchen Aid, a little bit more expensive, but well worth the extra money

I sell several brands of dishwashers and i would buy a kitchenaid.they have 3 series of models that still have the food grinder in them.they work better than the higher models.whatever you buy make sure you keep a rinse agent in it and try to use the gel packs or tablets.we have a lot of problems with a white film showing up because our big brother has made the detergent manufacturers take the phosphates out.also run some dishwasher cleaner thru it every month or so.

Thanks for the quick comebacks, I have a buddy on another forum who it turns out has been the the appliance biz for 40 years. What was his recommendation.......KITCHENAID!

I was in the restaurant biz years ago. We had HOBART equpt. As I recall, back then Kitchenaid was Hobarts consumer line. Does that hold true today? I haven't been in the food biz for 30 years.

I don't think I've ever seen monogram around here anyplace....???

Whirlpool owns and builds all their brands in the us for now, including kitchenaid, may tag ,whirlpool.jenn air and a few minor brands,I still like the kitchenaid over the others,David.j

Whatever brand you buy, stay away from the "dish drawer" type machines...absolute nightmare.

I'm a huge fan of GE "non-electronic" models.

Easy drain hose routing and extremely easy to work on, including "unsticking" the motor.

HARD to find anymore, but back about 1993, I built my mom a franken-washer with some parts as old as 1972, and it's still going.

GE is hit and miss in my book. I understand the make a good railroad locomotive, and jet engine. I like their electrical panels, and I swear by the dishwashers, but I don't think I'd buy a GE TV or microwave.

We had a new frigidaie it was a piece of crapdrom day one. Constantly melting the lower arm then it melted throw the plsctic tub ruined carpetin closet behind it.
I found a GE profile pdwt280vss at blowes in the cut out bin. The reviews were not the best and the tag had it old price $999
reduced to $899. I offered him $500. And he took it. I bought it and could not be happier. staniless steel tub the only way to go. Can't hardly hear it standing next to it.
It wasone of thier built-in display models and they rotated thier stock. I hate Lowes but once it goes yellow tag and sits a while they will deal with you like no one else.
Great machine great price.

Get a KitchenAid with a Stainless Steel tub. Superba. Done! These have been my favorite for 30+

I would stay away from Sears Kenmore/ Whirlpool/ Maytag etc. I think that they are all made by the same factory and they are pretty crappy. I've changed a lot of them after less than 5 years in service. I agree that Kitchen Aide or possibly Bosch are worth the extra $. JMHFO.

Looked at a kitchenaid kuds30i tonite... wife liked it. I went to a smaller company and worked a better number than the "box" stores. probably pickup on Wednesday...

If your looking for a quiet and good cleaning get a Bosch! I love it, super quiet which is what I was looking for because the kitchen is open to the family room where we watch TV. Have had mine 3-years and no problems, but there is no drying element in the washer. It rinses with hot water and then lets the water evaporate, so sometimes there will still be some water on top of plastic cups. Also, no disposal, just a self cleaning screen which works pretty good. I think it is an upper end 500 model? or lower end 800 model (has the more expensive adjustable rack), but they changed the styles from when I bought mine.

Sorry to hijack!

I too am in a similar problem... However, I want a portable one, for our place....

383bee can you make an recommendations on good portable washing machines?

Thanks, again sorry to hijack the thread

GE for years... GE Profile/GE Monogram or the Whirlpool brand, Energy Star Appliances & brands are all I've ever used, in my residential kitchen projects & building, never really any issues yet, a few bucks more, but they last allot longer than the cheap stuff does... Appliances aren't like they were 20 years ago, they all lasted forever it seemed, those days are long gone now, Now we have way too many cheap Chinese, Korean or Mexican made crap & they are considered consumable products today, that are just throwaways after a few years nowadays.... Quality control is lacking big time, sometimes you actually get what you pay for....

mikeyt - look at either maytag or whirlpool.they only make one of each.not many others out there.

What to buy ? I don't know. What NOT to buy, I know. The Maytag, which is a Whirlpool/Kenmore/Kitchenaid (they're all Whirlpool) in our kitchen now, is an absolute piece of garbage. The best dishwasher we've had in over 30 years was a GE... by far, and it was an inexpensive one.

X2. I put a Bosch in 2 years ago, been running it multiple times a day (kids dirty a ton of plates!) for ages and it's great.
