Anyone have something like this...

Yeah they can be. I bought a 30amp disconnect for my machines which are 3 phase. Don't remember the cost but remember cringing when I heard the price lol

Donny, if its to be outside, it needs to be 3R rated. How many phases, and what voltage? Single phase, 3 phase, 250 volt, or 600volt? That will be clearly noted on the data tag. No penetrations through the top unless they are threaded and gasketed. 3R is water-tite, rated for out-doors. Unless there is a threaded, sealed, hub on the top, plan on the conduit runs to enter the bottom, or sides near the bottom. There are alot of supply houses that specialize in used electrical equipment. Might try one of them. I'm an electrician. PM me if you have any questions. Scotty

Hey Scotty, 3 ph, 240 V with a Delta High leg, Yes, 3R, and I'll be pulling my box and 150 amp breaker out and putting in the disconnect. I'll either re-use the threaded conduit or get new stuff.

Then a 250v rated, 3 phase, 3r disconnect is what you need. What do you mean by a high-leg? Do you mean the center-tap, or "B" phase is 208 to ground? Dont see much of that anymore! Be careful! Back in my apprentice days I had to tap-off one of those for a 120/240v, single phase lighting panel. I got my phasing wrong, and when I threw the switch for their new breakroom, I watched 20 fluorescent ballasts, 1 microwave, and 1 television go up in smoke! Biggest F-up I ever made! Anyways, still try a supply house that specializes in used stuff, they are around. Plan the job well because LB's and other threaded fittings get pricey in that size. Maybe you can get the guy to give you a "package" price on the whole thing, rather than piece-mealing it. Or post in some of the regular supply houses. Alot of contractors have tear-outs that they save, and would be happy to part with. Good luck buddy. I'm here for ya.

I guess the high part was that this is not a 120/208, but a full 240v set up, one of the legs is hotter than the other two. I still havn't done anything yet, still thinking about it, but I'll check with some elec guys to see what they have, thanks!

Just for giggles, this explains it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CenterTappedTransformer.svg Lights and appliances dont like having 208 volts put to them! In a nut-shell, all 3 phases in a hi-leg delta are 240 between each other. Phase A and C are 120 v to ground. Phase "B" is 208 to ground. Good practice means using phasing tape to identify the hi-leg in red. BTW, it is good to test things first. If you reverse any of the wires, then any 3 phase motor WILL run BACKWARDS! NOT good for alot of equipment!!

We marked the B phase with red tape, we got that part right! You know that part of the New Deal Roosevelt put in when Hoover Dam was built was the promise to bring 3phase power to all the homes west of the Mississippi, yeah, that worked out real good!!!

Yeah, we still have high legs in some areas here on Long Island, 230V leg to leg with about 170-180 on the B phase (normally 120).Gotta watch out for that sort of stuff or you will blow stuff up in short order.

Lemme get this straight, you guys have three phase power in homes out there?

I WISH we had 3ph power in homes! We were promised it by Roosevelt way back when...but, that went to the wind!

A buddy owned a house with 3 phase....talk about cheaper light bills!
