These special plates are issued, upon request, for motor vehicles manufactured after 1922 which are at least 25 years old and of historic interest.

Do they come with the same catch as Ontario Historical plates... IE, don't get caught going anywhere but to a car show!

I have the old black and yellow one like Dennis has. I thinks it's about $50 a year. Didnt know they had historical plates as well. As noted above they arent for daily or driving. Car shows and back. Had one in MN. Paid $25 for lifetime use back in the day.

"the vehicle is ... primarily driven to historical exhibitions, parades, and historical club activities."

Primarily could be open for interpretation?

Secondarily:
Me: "Officer, I was just out to purchase a quart of milk for the misses."
Officer: "You know, parking at a convenience store is a sure way to get that pretty vehicle's door all dinged up."

30 years and older in Alabama you can get a vintage antique plate. Not for everyday use, but no problems for maintenance or car shows. One time tag fee, no yearly stickers or taxes. To top it off if you find a Alabama tag of the same year as your car it can be registered to your car with the same benefits of the antique vintage tag.

How far must one drive to cook out the built up condensate in the drive train?

20-30 minutes to boil out the contaminates. Drive it. The 10 minute idlers are killing their cars. Has little to do with antique plates.

We have it pretty good here. I just re-licensed mine from a historical plate to an original issued 1969 plate for a one time registration fee of $28.75. No other fees whatsoever (historical plate is the same way) and no inspections as a regular licensed vehicle would have to go through. The year of manufacture plate can even be transferred to a new owner if the car is sold. With either the historical plate or year of manufacture plate you are allowed to drive:
-unlimited mileage to and from any exhibition or educational event
-up to 100 miles to any repair facility
-up to 1000 miles a year for personal use
We have to keep a log in the vehicle. The majority of my driving is on the weekends and there is always some car cruise going on so all you have to do is log that you attended a cruise even if you didn’t and then those miles are not counted against my 1000 personal limit.

1000 miles! Did more than that this year and was sick for 2 months.

paid extra for modern black CA plates. not doing historicals.
