Now that I’ve finally got laid off I’ve been out deer hunting a little bit. Usually when I hunt I hunt for horns mostly. I was able to connect with a 5 1/2 year old mature buck yesterday around 11am. In Eastern, Ky we usually don’t have the size bucks the farm land country has like Western, Ky, Ohio and other states but they are a few booners here and there. I had his Tenderloins cut up in chops and the rest of him 3/4 in summer sausage, half cheddar and the other half cheddar and jalepeno and the other 1/4 made in beef jerky type snack sticks. Going to make some home made jerky with a doe kill later in the year.

Nice take !!! I've been out with the bow, but haven't seen any shooters, or many others. What seems the mist strange to me, is my stands have always been set for prevailing SW winds, to favor my locations. This year, we've been dominated by some form of Easterly winds, and warmer temps, so this has really limited my time out. Bow season ends tomorrow, so I'll be switching over to my crossbow, as I use that during firearms season. Good Luck to All who go Afield !!!

I really miss WNY deer season. I have land on the Pa. state line in NY. Bolivar. Great deer country.
The old guys are gone and the rest of us have moved away so the group doesn't hunt there anymore.

That is a Nice area. I used to hunt with my Dad quite a bit, in the Southern Tier. I sure miss those days...

We are being overrun with deer here in central MD. The city people moved out here to be in the country and brought all the baggage with them. So the land to hunt is either not available any more because they don't want Bambi shot or the little development is to close to good places.
You can kill them all day with you vehicle.
Me, I just got lazy. To old for that stuff any more.

Those are some huge whitetails. Saw this 4x3 muley this morning in the front yard hot on the trail of a doe. He was across the creek in the field before i could get my phone out so the pic sucks. Pretty good buck for my area. His rack was a few inches past his ears. Easily 30-32" spread. Hope he'll come back by so i can get a better pic.

Got this one with a bow last Saturday but I’m not sure on age and just 8 points. Canning venison stew right now.

Difference in our area. That would be called a 4 pointer. Growing up we had mostly venison, moose and a little elk. Don’t remember if we had any more than one beef if that.
I tell my wife that my teeth are good because I ate a lot of tough old bull moose.
There are so many great ways to cut and eat venison.
