It would have been Minn Dragways, Twin City Speedway or Amber Green in the late 60's through early 70's. It was a barn find, parked since 73. Trying to get a little history about the owner/driver. His nick name was "Moose".
Ditto, as I try to follow the wires (scratching my head)Can anyone explain the 2 coils for me?

IIRC, that car originally came from the Northeast.
I believe I saw it race back in 1970 at National Speedway in New York.
It's an early Displacement On Demand system. One coil fires 1-4-6-7 cylinders and the other coil fires 8-3-5-2. To save gas when cruising to the track you simply switch off one coil.
Also if theres only 1 coil wire hole in the distributor cap ,how do you fit 2 coil wires into 1 hole?
This makes no sense to me.
So if I get this right, You click off 1 coil and just run on 4 cylinders on a 8 cylinder car.
I really cant see the car running at all on 4 cylinders and the fuel would foul out the sparkplugs since its a carb. setup and dumping fuel when depressing the gas pedal.
Maybe I'm missing something here. But I cant see this working.

Um, dude, I was just kidding. I really had no idea why there are two coils, so I just made something up. My other choice was saying that it was wired to the starter to double the ignition voltage for starting a high compression engine.
