Anyone use an "add-a-leaf" helper springs to raise their ride height?

I'm running new OEM replacement leafs which replaced my SS springs last Summer.

The SS springs rode like a box truck and sat way too high :sad5:

With a full tank, passengers and a trunk full of junk, the OEM replacements look a bit on the saggy side :icon_neutral:

I'd like to add ~1.5-2"

Anyone here using helper springs like these from Pro-Comp?

I've added and removed leafs before and with good results generally. Do you still have the old SS springs? You might could rob a leaf or two from them and add to what you have. Btw, what was the rate of the SS springs?? That's pretty high and I'm thinking you got the wrong ones.

Those are what came with the car and probably the first thing I replaced.

Pretty sure it had a box truck rating lol

I still have them, but would rather not mess with them as I have the complete SS setup with hangers and mounts up for sale.

I use the add-a-leafs all the time. get them from summit racing for 35 bucks. they will raise it 1.5 to 2".

Did you use the same Pro Comp kit? (13120)

My RR is buried and I can't really measure my current leaf width at this moment :icon_silent:

All Mopar leaf springs are 2.5" wide.....front segment should be 22, rear 36.

I think I had to remove A couple, and left them off. I have used them on 62-65 b bodies. There was a little short leaf that was in the way too, I left it out.

Did you add them to the bottom or did you split the original pack and put them in between?

I put them on the bottom. Next time I do this i need to take pictures and post them. I can't think of a cheeper easier way to raise the back of a b body. But I guess you could do the same, and take pictures.

I already placed an order for the 13120's as well as some universal clamps

Just curious, but do they make drop down front mounts for these leafs?

I know some guys use shackles, but a drop down front mount seems like it would be a better option and help give it a little more pinion angle at the same time...

The dual ride height spring hangers from AR engineering may get you where you want to go:

Mancini is the retailer for AR.

Summit. Inexpensive truck leaf - one each side. Modified length, gave about one inch. Just right to allow for the beer and passengers.

Probably not what you want to hear Snake, but have you considered adjusting your torsion bars down a bit to get the attitude you're looking for?

The front end is exactly where I want it to be

Installed the helper leafs earlier today with good results :)

Did a quick measurement before an after from the ground (I know this isn't the proper way to measure, but it's just easier to see the difference)

Started off with about 23.75" on the driver's side and 23.5" on the passenger side.

Even though I didn't need to pull the hanger brackets to install the leafs, I pulled them anyways and installed new reinforcement plates from Mancini.

Also, I didn't remove any of the OEM leafs, but stacked the helper springs according to length, which is different on each side cause the passenger side has extra half leafs that the driver's side doesn't.

End result is about 25.5" on the driver's side and 25" on the passenger side....

With my fat *** behind the wheel, it should be spot on :eusa_think:

Took her for a spin and immediately noticed a stiffer ride.

Not a box truck ride like my old Super Stock springs, but not as plush as the OEM springs alone.

I used to have a slight drive line vibe around 75-80mph, but now it's virtually gone :)

Well, not gone, but it seems the same vibe has gone to about 95+

Need to checkout my pinion angle as soon as my flat lift is free.

Now, one thing I didn't like is that it seems to have lost some traction with the change :eusa_eh:

It just feels like it's much easier to light up the tires.

Made a pass and 1st gear was useless as usual, 2nd spun for quite a while and I ended up getting sideways pretty bad after shifting into 3rd (she's usually well sorted out going into 3rd)

That being said, it doesn't matter since the Mickeys will take care of that :glasses10:

Topped off the tank (it was about 1/2 when I started) and measured again with no difference in height, so I's say she's good :hello2:
