Anyone using a TomTom car navigation device?

The website doesn't give any help regarding a celebrity voice that I have already paid for and want to transfer to my new device. The old device has died....battery age or something...just keeps starting up and shutting down. Got tired of watching the screen light up and shut down.

I joined the TomTom Forum just to find out if there is an answer...but I suspect the answers (or attempts at answers) will come from some armchair quarterback living in Momma's basement.

Won't be long before I discover if their Mod's are as tolerant as ours here.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe that they transfer over. I use a Rand McNally navigation, that is also an Android tablet, and when I replaced my faulty device with a new one, I was not able to transfer any of the data.
PS Maybe I will join that forum and see how long it takes me to get a vacation.

Did you try rebooting (?) your old TomTom? Mine was acting up (while using it on a roadtrip) and I rebooted it by sticking a pin in that little hole on the bottom while powering it up. Fixed it.

I have not tried that...it just started this incessant 'starting up and powering down' sequence....like the battery was dead internally, or the memory could not be accessed. It drove me mental driving home one day....over an hour of the screen flashing was too much after finishing up at work one day.

Good news is that one 'uber' member and a Mod jumped in and claim to have transferred the voices across on my new device. I will find out if they are speaking with fork-tongues or not later today when I do a WiFi update.

my dad has a Magellan, he calls it Meg, he says it's fine
it's 10+ (maybe 15) years old too
I've updated it for him a couple of times

he drives it more than I do now, still pissed me off

We have a result. It was over a year ago that I wrote an angry letter to our City CEO, and to date I have not received a reply.

A few weeks ago, I decided to report the new speed limit in about 10 spots along a particular road that I use, along with thousands of other people. Today as I am driving that road, I noticed that the posted speed limit is now what is displayed on my TomTom device.

And further more, I get home to two emails telling me I have been upgraded to a "Master Traveler" status.

I guess my reports actually found someone willing to check it out.
I wonder if the Belgian reading my report twigged to my UserID? They are not usually known for their sense of fun.
