Is there a more modern automatic transmission with overdrive that will mate up to the 72 318 in my Charger, looking for better mileage and highway drive-ability, also, obviously it will have to be a tranny that doesn't require a computer controlled engine. Not worried about cross-member fabrication or tail shaft mounts, I'll deal with that along with drive shaft modification needed, but as much bolt-on's as possible please in the suggestions, what has worked for you?
Thanks

I installed a 46rh in my 87 pickup. Patc sells a kit that will allow for automatic operation of the overdrive and lock up converter. I got the kit but haven't wired it up yet. I have the overdrive hooked up to a toggle switch and shift it myself.

I believe the 200R4 is a good fit into the body.

If you want to stick with a Mopar trans the A-500 or 518 would be easiest since linkage bolts up the same, cooler lines are the same side, no engine adapter needed etc. HGM, the company that makes the Compushift control systems for computer controlled transmissions just came out with a simple stand alone control system that operates the A-500/518 without all the goofy external switches etc and responds just like the original factory system. If interested I would contact them for availability and quote.
