are 68 and 69 hood inserts interchangeable

i have a 68 gtx hood . are the hood inserts the same for 68 and 69? will 69 inserts fit my 68 hood?

inserts are different , hoods can be the same but there is a early 68 that would need modified to take the 69 insert

Sam, see my thread "Rusty's Roadrunner". I too have a '68 hood on a '69 and to make the '69 hood scoops fit you'll need to drill out holes in the hood so the scoops can sit flush on the hood. Other than that unless the hood is up you'd never know the difference.

The inserts will interchange. The big difference between the 68 and 69 hoods is the 68 hoods are not cut out where the inserts go.

Oh yeah :eusa_think: I had the 68 inserts on the 69 hood but didn't recall this detail about the other way around when I made my earlier post. That was a long time ago! I know the shape is the same.

I was told there is a difference in hood latch location also. It was changed slightly in mid 68 I believe.

i like the way the 68's come out side way . but i can get a pair of 69 for $50 so i mite have to go that rout . Jack says he's got a couple of pairs . gonna check out if there 68's. thanks for the help . learn something new everyday
