It's all about making $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I cringe whenever I need to go into Lowes or Home Depot. We are very fortunate to have Menards around here. The stores and inventory tend to be bigger and better, and in general blow the prices off off Lowes and Home Depot. There are a few things I buy at Lowes, but not many.

Here is an example. Exactly same item. Over 40% higher at Lowes than Menards. Not uncommon.

Around here Lowe’s and Home Depot will beat a competitors price by 10%. So actually you’ll get an item for less at those two.

I was in Menards this week . First aisle was Halloween , Second aisle was Thanksgiving, Aisles 3&4 were Christmas . Menards is closer by 25 miles . Almost everything they sell is inferior quality wise . I dropped over a grand on pressure treated wood last week . I had 4x4’s snap in two just unloading them from the truck . Stair stringers were breaking in half before I could cut them

Over here a large nationwide department store has for a number of years now had all the Christmas stock and decorations up by the end of the first week in October.
My wife works for them at HO, and she explained why to me after seeing this thread by @Richard Cranium

It all comes down to marketing and getting the public in the mood for buying up in the lead up to Christmas. I know it sucks, but that's how retail works these days.

We as Americans just keep sucking up the bull **** consumerism. We must put the brakes on this ****. I went to Lowe’s to return the Kobalt glass cutting tool that doesn’t work because they tried to get cute with its design. And seen the same christmas decorations on display. I said to the guy working returns. You know Haloween isn’t even gone yet and you got Christmas out? Then he asked why I was returning the tool. I replied simply Its junk. He said I get it man.
I made my mind up today it will be Overlees-Woods local lumber yard every possible chance from now until im pushing up daisies.

I will not shop at Menards.
The guy that runs that chain is absolute scum. And that is being nice.
The headquarters is in Eau Claire WI. He lives there, or did at least, and he expends his scum sucking efforts for his home town as well as his chain of stores.

One, super quick example, remember when everyone was freeking out about disinfecting everything not so long ago? The guy saw what was going on, saw his sales go up on clorox wipes, and pulled them off his shelves and went on a 3 day no holds barred buying spree to get every pallet of the things he could in the country.
While everyone was in a panic about you know what, this guy was actively creating shortages of something many at the time were considering life-essential product. He trickled it back in his stores at quadruple the price. Or higher, depending on what he could get away with.
Some might say that is how business works. I say that is a particularily scum thing to do to your fellow man in a time that was considered a crisis. Especially when the manufacturer was donating supplies to people.
I could go one for pages but suffice to say I will not buy things at his chinese import market manipulating grifter stores.
