Greetings all wrench gripping, knuckle bleeders! Mr. Belvedere here with a question for the ever knowledgable! I have handily removed my PS pump and stuffed it's leaky contents into a paper bag where it will almost certainly be depositing its wondrous claret fluids on the garage floor. I plan on removing the reservoir and replacing the O-ring to stem the hemmorage of ps fluid onto my kmember. I was reading an earlier thread that spoke of a TRW pump and the Oring to seal it. Thinking my pump was a TRW I went and purchased a 245 bn70 Oring only to find that my pump is a federal pump. Will the TRW Oring also fit the federal reservoir??? Also, what is the preferred method of removal of said reservoir from the pump itself?

The outer pump body o ring actually works. But the inner shaft seal that likes to leak on the federal pumps is different for sure.

I know this because I was delivered the wrong kit from steer and gear and didn't realize it until I got the shaft seal. They sent me the right kit, two actually

I had the seal number but my iCloud screwed me on my old pictures that were supposed to be saved.

Awesome! This is just what I wanted to hear! My shaft seal is fine, it's the leaking reservoir housing that has been dogging me. You have put my worried mind at ease, and for that I thank you graciously!

And how did you get the reservoir off?

Not sure on all pumps but on the last one I did, you pull it off once all the bolts are out. Take a screw driver or pry tool around the pump where the tank is and it will come off.

Couple bolts on the backside. Service manual tells how, and what, to do.
Also figure which size you have...one for SB, two for BB. Need to know...book tells ya.

I use a steel, mechanical moulding removal tool that you squeeze. It prys things apart. I get under the lip at the pump body and reservoir then work around it. It is tedious
