Going to rebuild my 727 and I have seen several videos with a mount that goes into a rotating engine stand. I have looked on the interwebs and I’m not getting anywhere

All the stuff I found on Summit/Jegs is for GM and it’s not rotating

Does anyone know where I can find one?

Hmm I don’t know if any off hand, it’s a great idea. I used to take and set them in a clean grease can tail down and pull as much as possible then on the bench. I did see that OTC offers one online.

I have been rebuilding automatics since 1970 and always lay TFs on their side on the bench for final assembly. GMs do require vertical loading of components.

I built a short ladder type deal with 2x4s and a couple cross pieces which worked pretty well to stand it up by my bench and also to drag it around by or lay it down on the floor to work on the valve body/accumulator are. Inexpensive for a one-time deal.

I do everything on the bench up to the clutch packs and pump. Then I set it into a 35 gallon barrel for the clutch and pump install.. Been doing it that way since 1970.

Just curious what you guys use for a clutch pack / piston spring clamp?

You can do the whole job with trans laying on its side on a bench. If you must stand it up don’t have it rest on the output shaft. It pushes everything up and you cannot check end play.

I have the factory Miller tools. But for everything else I made a tool with different arced adapters for different diameter piston spring retainers.

I struggled my first time and wondered who makes the tools... Thanks!

Here's something I made up out of scrap 2 X 4 and 2 X 6 wood. It's not pretty, but it has worked for me for 30+ years. The blue dirt bike lift was purchased at Princess Auto (like your Harbour Freight), and has been a real back saver to lift transmissions up to my work bench.
