I'd love to be able to put my 68 GTX into this program but I think you have to have or pay for a 3d scanner to create the 3d model.
Anyone have any ideas?

Or find someone with one willing to print it. There are companies that print 3d prototypes from drawings.

Sorry...when I said "create the 3D model" I mean digital 3d model, the surfaces that VRED uses.
Thanks

If its actual size would take a good sized 3d scanner. If a scaled model a scanner can record and dup anything it sees. Autodesk should be capable of printing paper drawing in 2d from the 3d scan. The capability was there when I got out of the industry in 2011.
You got a school that teaches 3d close? If it will fit in their scanner they just may do it for you.
I would think Caltech would have the capibilities.

Also there are some shops around where the equipment can be rented to do 3d scans and duplication. All you need are the electronic 3d drawing files. All present systems are pretty capable of creating something compatible for Autodesk.
