Hi all,

I'm planning to convert the '65 back to original drivetrain: A833. It is a automatic now, but it used to be a 4 speed...

Here's what I managed to gather until now (remember, i'm in europe, these things are rare overhere):

- 65 engine (383)
- 69 bellhouding
- 68 4 speed

The clutch-pedal is already in the car. I do have a Z-bar that belongs to the car. I do have a shifter and shifter-stick (with boot).

Question: is this going to fit? Do you guys have any tips or trick?

Thanks!

Assuming the bellhousing is for a big block and the trans is a "long tail" for a B or E body yes, it should fit

Yep, the 65 bellhousing is the same as the 69. The main difference between the different years is the Zbar mounting location. 64's are farther back and a different style altogether (mounts with a plate vs the later units with a screw-in ball stud), all the rest are the same.

Even though you're in Europe, see if you can order your small parts and and get advice from Brewer's Performance. They are pretty much the best out there, and know everything there is to know about each and every 4spd Mopar.

Also the trans crossmember is different for an auto and 4speed. Other than that you'll need the small parts for the linkage and the clutch / flyweel / pressure plate / throwout bearing / mounting hardware & clutch fork. Not sure on the drive shaft for this vs an auto setup.

I had to buy a lot of my linkage and clutch just like you are doing, just know that the stuff is out there even if it's a little difficult to get shipped to you.

Good luck!

Thanks for the images!

I have a lot of small parts that came with the car when I bought it. Among it is the Z-bar, and a spring. I also have the shifter (with linkages), the boot and ring for the tunnel and the shiftstick (with white ball). I need some small parts for the shifter and a mounting plate (and ofcourse the dustboot for underneath the tunnel).

Furthermore a pilot bushing ofcourse and everything between the engine and the transmission.

Isn't there some bushings I need for the Z-bar mounts?

I know Brewers and I know for sure he has everything I need. But before I'm going to order, I have to make sure that nothing's missing...

Thanks! That's just what I need...You must be reading my mind. I was thinking about such earlier tonight. I'm still learning every day. I'm not a mechanic so...Have to develop some skills!
