You guys have your tornadoes, typhoons, floods, hurricanes, etc. The local radio keeps making a big deal about avalanches for the next few days. The mountains are supposed to get another 24" on top of what they called unstable snow. Colorado doesn't like to advertise how many get killed rock climbing, white water rafting, and avalanches. I wonder how many get injured each day at ski resorts.

That's not counting animal encounters which are usually the person's fault.

My ski patrol experience. My ex and I were skiing at Breckenridge. I was the better skier so I'd zoom ahead then wait for her to catch up. Once she didn't catch up. I thought she must have branched off to a different trail so I waited at the base lodge for a long time. I did see the Ski Patrol go by with the sled but I put it down to negative thinking. Eventually I called and sure enough broken Tib Fib. Off to Denver to get a plate in her leg.
