Hi, just rebuilt my first carb. Went well (I hope). While on the bench I’m trying understand the workings. The secondary throttle valves won’t open when I work the linkage on the choke side. Looking I see that this small piece on the throttle cable side (photos) is just hanging and interferes with the secondary shaft. It seems like it should be there but I don’t know why or why it’s interfering. Thanks for any help

I suspect they (secondaries) are locked out until the choke is fully open and the fast warm up idle drops off. I would have to go out and monkey with one of mine to be sure of that. Try holding the choke open so the stepped cam is free of the fast idle screw and see if they open then.

the bowl vents spring clip is on wrong,should be to the left side,and into the slot. Just reverse it

Joseph P- I’m not sure what cable you mean, can you explain to a rookie and is what you are pointing out have to do with the piece I’m asking about?
The piece just floats, doesn’t move with any shaft or choke movement. It’s like it’s job is to lock out the secondaries from opening.

Thank you. I see you have the same piece (nice carb btw). Yours looks in the same place. Maybe I’m not getting something because it’s not hooked up. Just weird because it seems to just hang there and prevents the secondaries from opening.

the spring goes the opposite Way and inserts in the small bracket
Thank you Demonic. That makes sense I guess. But moving the choke manually on and off does not move it. It’s connected to nothing and just hangs there. Unless somehow when I hook up the manual divorced choke it connects somehow, but I don’t see that.
