if you have the original adjuster then just get some good quality bearings like bca.if you dont,just run the greens.i have run them in many 8 3/4 rears with no prob at all.
The first set of the sealed ball bearings lasted me about 2200 miles before one started grumbling. I was in a pinch so I went with another type made by Mopar Performance. They have been on the car about 2800 and they're still quiet. When they fail, I'm going back to the stock type Timkens.
Not sure who doesn't know, but when people say Green bearings, the word Green is actually a company name like Kleenex, Coke or Doritos.
I have heard about the rear discs and stock axle bearing incompatibility but that may not be completely accurate. I saw a big early 70's Ford wagon with a disc brake 9" and it used tapered roller bearings. I don't recall the adjustment but an axle was out of it and I was surprised to see that since Ford always used a sealed ball bearing. The 74 Imperial probably had a 9.25" rear and those are C clip so no comparison there.
I have heard both good and bad with the Greens. I have them in my 69 GTS but I'm not putting a lot of miles on that car so I'm not a good data point. They do at least hold the car up....
