Axle pitting?

I took the axles out of a car I got. They are Moser axles and I dont believe they have been used at all since install like 17 years ago. Was changing stock bearings for Green Bearings and both axles have what looks like pitting..you cant see it until bearings are off axle. Do you think Moser would have shipped these axles this way. Also would they be ok to use . The stock style bearings looked like new new

If what you are talking about look's like some one burned off the bearing with a torch at one time. Just my two cent's.

Either way, id call that ruined.

Just to say I use an angle grinder after braking off the bearing outer then cross cut the race slightly then use a straight edge chisel and strike where it is scored. That will knock it off. Don't know if I could trust it with the burned spot. Axel's are many rod's twisted and formed into the axel. This gives the steel a flex and strength so they don't brake under stress. Have broken them drag racing and they splinter. Ok sorry to go on.

Save the splined ends! Weld "tees" on the ends and use then to assemble Sure Grips.

Yeah I dont do much on assembly for rear diffs unfortunately. Sounds like a good plan if did.

I redid a set years ago that looked like this. Ran them for years no problem on the street I did a lot of burn outs with them

You’re taking a chance on a questionable part and failure would be catastrophic failure? No thanks. Axles are cheap.

I've run them as well. Beat on them pretty good. Never broke one. But they are ugly.
