Axle spline countq

Is there a way to know the spline count on an axle without pulling the axle and physically counting them?
I am planning on ordering a new center section with 3.23. I have a 489 case now.

If the rear end components are stock, the axles will have 30 splines. The only carrier that I am aware of that could be different is a spool.

Rt boy is correct. Several different spline counts for Dana 60, but ALL 8 3/4s have 30 spline.... except for aftermarket spools.
(Aftermarket spool can be 30 or 35 spline).

True. Or, depending on application, 23, 30, 35, 40, or 45.
But Scott has a 489, so 8 3/4.
