I replaced my conediff to a clutchtype. When I installed axles I discovered to much play on non adjustable side. When I google on the matter people are talking about thrust button? I´m not so keen on tear it apart again,I have just installed it. Can I shim drive side to get the right play?(passenger side is adjustable) I have a set of green bearings on the shelf, will they fix it?
I have read some remarks on green bearings being instable?

I think the green bearings make adjustment unnecessary. The thrust button rest inside the differential and both axle ends bear against it. When you adjust the play on the adjustable passenger side - you are also adjusting the driver side because that thrust button is free to slide back and forth on the splines inside the differential. If the thrust button is not in there I believe there's no option but to pull the center back out and install it. You should be able to verify it's in there by pulling both axles.a If it's there you won't be able to see from one side through the other. If it's not in there you will see light on the other end. You can also probably find a rod, pull the pass side axle out, use the rod to measure from the axle button (or driver side axle end) to the flange on the axle tube and compare the measurement to the axle length to the mounting flange on it.

Here's what a clutch type looks without the thrust buttons...........

Doesn't look like thrust buttons there.
Try Dr Diff may have one.

I bought it from Dr Diff, he recommend me to install my green bearings. I´ll do that, then I don´t need to take center down again.
Thanks for your information.

I may be way off here, if you use the green bearings, the thrust button doesn't matter. Or I'm badly mistaken?

If you go to Green bearings you should make sure the thrust buttons are not in there.

When useing the factory bearings and thrust buttons, they all work together. The first purpose of the thrust buttons is to connect both sides together for adjusting proper bearing preload.

The second thing, when going around a turn the axles push against the thrust button and helps the Suregrip clutches to disengaged.

When useing the Green bearing setup there is no disengagement of the clutches when turning. No biggie but you might notice this.

Say what?

Are you meaning your endplay adjuster is all the way in (no more adjustment?) and you still have play? The adjustment process is no big deal but you need a good dial indicator...do a search of "end play adjustment" here or on gaggle. No shims, the threaded adjuster takes care of the play for both sides, it's measured from the driver side

Well...I replaced my conetype suregrip to a clutchtype. I did a Mcgyver on my conediff and it worked fine but I hope the clutchdiff will be a little more silent. There was no problem adjusting axles with the cone but when I put the clutchdiff in there it was a small play on the non adjustable side(in my case driver side). On passenger side there was no problem to get the right play. I will install the axles with green bearings tomorrow and then hopefully everything will work fine. It was really messy to replace bearings. I tryied with a bearingremover but it was totally stuck. I needed to cut it with a grinder.

Just to get on the same page here; with green brgs the thrust button has to come out. Mine started out with clutches then I sold it & put in a cone type. The "better-half" lost my adjuster lock so I went with "greens", they work fine. The original setup is to bang in the driver side(to seat it) & do the adjustment on the passenger side, never worried/checked play on drivers side. Yes for the greens the thrust button has to come out.

Ok, I get it. I didn´t know about the bang.I didn´t have any thrustbutton in the conediff, but when I changed to clutchtype I should have installed the button to make it work with my original bearings.Anyhow, bearings is replaced with green ones and I will try it out this evening.(without thrustbutton)
