B-body auto to 4spd conversion.

Has anyone converted a automatic to 4 speed? What I'm really after is a few pics of a original 4 speed as reference on where and how much to cut for the hump. Of course that would be a picture from underneath the car. 1970 Superbee is the vehicle I'm working on.

I changed mine to 70 Bee over to a 4speed. What I did was I ordered a 4 speed hump 1st. I got mine from Year One but I think its actually an AMD piece.The way it lays on the main pan is almost perfect in the way all the contours fit each other. Then I traced around the outside edge of the 4 speed hump. Then I measured 3/4 inch to the inside of line I had traced & that was my actual cut line. I did this because I was afraid of cutting the whole to big. I still have a small lip you can see from underneath,but afterward I saw an original 4speed floor & its identical as I had done. HINT: measure twice cut once.

Thank you Low Hound. That's what I was thinking of doing. I just didn't want to run into a issue of not cutting enough out the floor. I have the hump and it does fit nicely over all contours like you said. Hope all goes well with your mom. God Bless.

Putting the 4 speed hump in was a very crude procedure at the factory. As you now know, the hump locates itself where it is supposed to go. I'm pretty sure they hend welded it in first, then cut the floor out from the bottom, that way you can use the hump as a guide when cutting.

I see you already have the hump and maybe everything else. If not you should check out the entire kit available from Brewers Performance. You will get a nicely prepared tranny and absolutely eveything you need.
