I know there are variables - but any of you that have "been there, done that" - can you give me an estimated base quantity for an overall paint job of a primed 68-70 B body - and 3 or so coats of clear ? Thanks.
I think he is asking quantity of paint needed. That depends on being base or metallic, I would say if your doing everything jams, engine bay, trunk, a gallon of base would do it, most base paints are reduced 1:1 so you get 2 gallons.
You will probably need a gallon of color (thats if your using good quality product). And when I clear a car with 3 to 4 coats, I go through about a gallon and a half of clear.
I base my opinion on using PPG premium products. DBC color and DCU2021 clear.
Thanks for the input - I know quality of product makes a big difference - I had a gallon of Nason sublime (the new 2005, pearl/metallic sublime) and we got 3/4's done with my last car (Dart) and I had to make a run back to get more (30 miles), thank God they were open - nightmare - needed 4 good coats before we got even coverage, never do Nason again unless it's a dark solid.
