Has anybody used a b&m shifter with the factory linkage of a slap stick. My car is 73 Roadrunner with an e body slap stick but the shifter was completely rusted solid. I took it apart and freed it up but there’s no longer any detents or ratchet mechanism left. I’m thinking of getting a good one but if I could adapt a b&m or a hurst to the linkage it would be good too. I’m not a fan of the cable because they just don’t seem to last. Also if I get a good used factory piece does the t handle work with all of them or do some have to use the ball. Thanks

I did it. Took an old melted shifter cable and shortened it to fit between the the stock bell crank and the B&M shifter. Had to fab an extension on the top side of the bell crank to get the geometry right. I clamped this extension on the existing bell crank with voice grips. Then moved it in and out from the pivot point until park and 1st both could be selected. Once it was correct. It was welded it on.
