Has anyone encountered a current, commercially available near as dammit color that will pass for B7 Blue on a 69 Coronet? I just want a passable alternative to tidy up my engine bay and get me by for a year or so until I get a 440 and rip everything out.

If I can't find anything I'll try and get a couple of cans mixed providing they can scan the cars paint from the carpark....or, I could always ram the front of the store and pull up at the paint counter.......:tongueflap:

Go to Totally Autos web site and order B7

Or go to your local automotive paint supply store if you have one. Most of the usually can mix it up in a spray can, touch up bottle, or obviously by bulk.

Yep, the store near me has a 3 can minimum at $12 per can.

Aerosol cans and trans-pacific shipping via aircraft would probably be frowned upon, I can see the headlines now "Remains of 747 found at bottom of Pacific Ocean, unusual traces of metallic blue paint identified splattered all over inside of cargo bay!".

I'll see if I can get it matched at a paint shop, hopefully they can do a decent job of it but I've heard thay can be hit and miss, I was hoping there may be some Jap colour that I could get here that is very close but then again if you blokes can still buy B7 off the shelves then why would you ever need to seek alternatives!

Thanks anyway!

Success! I rang a local paint shop and told them of my dilemma, turns out the bloke on the phone lives nearby and he'll drop by tonight with his trusty spectrometer and scan the paint!

........strange, he only offered to drop round when I told him what the car was!

Sounds like a nice cat.....If he can't get his paint match machine to dial in you could always give him the "PPG Index No. 8 B7 2020 Medium Blue Poly" paint color code.

Good luck!
