Hey guys, I just took a little vacation with the fam and may I say. upper Michigan is a phenomenal place to disconnect from technology and relax in the dense Northwoods. There in an incredibly friendly culture up there. With accommodations ranging from log cabins with a cot and a wood stove to 5 star resorts on the many lakesand there is no shortage of out door activities to be enjoyed. We chose to rent snowmobiles. Even though it is one of the more pricy activities. You can definitely get your moneys worth. Wheather your just enjoying the hundreds of miles of trails, or bar/ diner hopping on your sleds to the many phenomenal places scattered throughout the dense Ottawa National Forest. You can really explore places that can only be accessed in the cold and snow and not to mention our rental machines did 0-60 in 50 yards. They are simple to control and handle (my wife had No trouble at all) and give you an incredible and unique experience. I highly suggest everyone give it a try!

That looks like a lot of fun. Congrats on getting out there and doing it in the snow.

Was in the U.P years ago on a motorcycle trip. Friendly people and good bars.
Bar was 'The Sidetrack' if I recall.

Awesome place to ride sleds. Weekdays are the best times with less traffic and trails in better shape.

Did you make it to the Gay Bar??

Gay,MI...lol

I did not. Maybe next time. The Sioux Saint Marie Bridge was a fun ride in a downpour the next day.

Agree. I have some relatives from Ludington, visited there a few times...mostly 4th of julys on the lake though!

I tried to get the wife and kids to go a couple years ago and she said "why would you go some place cold (central IL) to somewhere colder". So we didn't make it, I have friends that go every year

It’s definitely worth it! Are you still in Royal? That’s only about 10 minutes away from me

Sweet! Thanks for the photo's.

My wife and I went up to Curtis riding between Christmas and New Years. We rode out of Paradise last February.

The UP is a magical place. We would move there in a heart beat if we could.

Southeast Michigan kind of sucks for car guys sometimes because we have terrible roads, but overall I like Michigan and have no plans to leave. The upper peninsula is special though. Lot's of good destinations and good people up there. Watch out for black bears and Sasquatch, and you'll have a good time. There is also a really good car cruise up in St. Ignace, just a little north of the Mackinac Bridge. If you don't like the cold, go up there in summer for the car cruise.

Way cheaper to rent sleds than own them!

UP is a great place all times of year but probably best in the winter.

Have u seen how much they want for rental fees ? $300 plus a day per sled

Have you seen what it costs to buy one? If you dont live up where there is good snow most years it doesn't pay to own one. Rent a newish machine and if it breaks down they haul another one out to you. When we were up there years ago a few guys rented sleds. They were just trail models and not performance machines. They kept up just fine.
