Hey All,
First post here in the forums; actually, the first mopar forum I've been a part of in a very long time.

Back in 96-2000 a friend and I built my '65 Belvedere. Like a fool, I "accidentally" sold it at Carlisle in 2001. Here are some pics from when we first did it:

I've been kicking myself ever since.

Back in October of this year, I get a phone call out of the blue from the guy that bought it telling me that he wanted me to buy my car back. Well, long story short is that I liquidated a few other toys and ran right over to his place. Here are a few recent pics:

The resto on the car held up really, really well over the last ten years. Body & paint are outstanding. It can use a little interior work like a dash re-chrome & a headliner, but those are things that I didn't need to restore the first time around so it's not like I have to do the same jobs over.

He really didn't change anything on the car during the time he had it. He needed to do mufflers & carb, but other than that, it's exactly the way it left me in 2001 right down to my vintage Ramchargers sticker in the window.

I had sold off a lot of mopar stuff over the past ten years (probably to some of you here on the forums) and I figured I was "out of it". With this opportunity, I get the chance to step right back in to the mopar scene where I left off without missing a beat.

Nice to be back

Great story glad to see you got it back that is a very nice car.

Welcome back - and great car!

Congrats, there are several of my old cars that I would l0ove to have back. Enjoy the feeling spent with an "Old Friend".

Thanks guy. It really is cool getting it back.

I'm missing a few things about buying an old car, though. You know when you get something new there's that period of discovery where you're finding errant wires or tractor fittings jammed into the fuel system, and that list of "I've got to fix this" begins? Well, in this case if I find any of that sort of stuff I really only have one guy to blame; ME!

I've been working on getting some of the basics in line. When we did the car we put in all new front end bushings and over the years it's all settled and that threw out the front alignment & chewed up the insides of the front tires. So it's getting an alignments soon but in the meantime I turned up the torsion bars to get the front ride height close to where it's supposed to be.

Aside from the cold, this should be a good week to hang out in the shop & mess with it.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

That is super cool, How i do wish from time to time i could get one back like this, i imagine we can all say that.. If i found a 69 RR or heard someone hear say something in particular that has one, id know if it was my old one.. Chances very slim because of the years, but this is a neat story, beauty of a ride and im glad for you... Enjoy!!

That is really nice. I would want that back also. It looks great ! Ron

Wow!

I hope you realize how lucky you are to have the opportunity to buy the car back. especially when you consider the odds were not in your favor.
Just the fact that the guy still had the car for Ten years and calls you out of the Blue? Amazing.

I know how you felt once the car was sold because I sold my 63 MW race car in 1970 and have regretted
it for over forty years.

At least you had the chance to buy it back and you jumped at the chance. It's a beautiful ride and I hope you continue to enjoy it for many years.

Good luck!

im going to sing you a song,,,,ready ?......" REUNITED, and it feels so gooooooooooooooooood "

was i off key?....lol congrats on getting it back !

great story...and nice to see he cared for her like you did...now go get a pennecillin shot...you don't know who's been inside her the last 10 yrs...lol

Wow, this thread came back from the dead!

bigredbird, He was really cool. He knew it was rough for me to sell it that day; he remembered it. When he called me he said "This is your car, you made all the decisions and built it the way you wanted it. I want you to have it back" How awesome is that!?!?

This time it's a keeper.I have my car 26 years now,the family can deal with it when I'm gone:blob1:
