new thing for me son found a picture of 1st car. a 71 sat grandpa gave him choose of project cars. his choice 71 sat seb plus fac b block car.our problem last owner deleted the fac vinyl top and removed the chrome ofcourse gone are the pegs honestly i ive done it too .but never have tryed too put those little pegs back on has anybody tryed this. i know this can be done

I need to do it too. I was tinking AL or stainless screws, after marking the location of the chrome from a mock up. I know AL would be dissimilar metals, but I'm pretty sure regular steel would rust. Not crazy about trying to reweld the pegs.

i was thinking long steel pop rivs. sometimes al and steel dont work good together found out on a hoodscoop i too worry about future rust on the inside of panel hopeing when i take paint remover and sand i can find pin end circles

We have done it using a stud welder and the short t-shaped pegs. We were having adhesion problems (on bare metal) at 1st, and ended up using solder flux on the tip of the stud, it worked well. We did run into a couple of spots we were forced to use stainless steel flat head phillips head screws. We purchased the screws from a GM resto supplier, they worked good as they are the same size as the t-shaped pegs. These were all done before final seal & paint, so they should hold up well. We also used the same t-studs on the top of a 72 Cuda door for that trim piece that goes on the top.
