Has anyone read the latest Mopar Muscle Magazine where they're talking about different laws going into effect in different states.
Every now and then there are post on here and other message boards about new laws that are imposed in different states.

Has anyone checked out the SEMA Action Network? Here is there web site.

You can see different laws that being imposed in your state that you probably don't know about. Like I just found out that in Pennsylvania they are trying to pass a exhaust law that will make aftermarket exhaust illegal. I just emailed my State Rep.

I recommend joining (it's free) and the will keep you informed what's going on.

Trust me I've been here with snowmobiles.... if you stick your head in the sand and don't stay informed we will lose this hobby.

Thanks

Kevin

I said it before, I'll say it again. "If people paid as much attention to politics as they do sports, people would finally wake up".

MAKES ME SICK!

Signed up. It was quick and easy

Amen to that!! I have a buddy that's a sports dog...knows all the names of all the players and all of their stats and then says he doesn't have time to pay attention to politics. Said he as a stupid ***. The politicians we have in there right now has got to be the worse ever too...

MA has that law banning aftermarket exhaust, and it didn't stop me from putting it on my 2002 Intrepid, getting pulled over for something unrelated, having the State Cop ask me about it, and successfully convincing him that it was OEM! :D

I'm already a member, but its good to give people the heads up.

Here in calif they are limiting kit cars ,and new construction cars....I really don,t care,There are enough fiberglass hot rods and wanna be cobras running around...I,ll sign it up anyways!!..

Do you have state safety/emissions inspection? Texas does in and around the large cities and that's where you might encounter a problem. Years ago I built a straight pipe system just to see how quiet I could make it and was able to get it to where is was darn near stock sounding but it failed to pass inspection at the first place I took it to. The book says it has to have a physical muffler on it. Told the inspector to prove it didn't have one. He said no and that if I got stopped, he could lose his inspection cert if the cop looked under it. Damn man, what cop in their right mind is going to look under a quiet car!? Hasn't happened in my 44 years of driving. I just took it someplace else and brought it to his attention before he wasted his and my time. He actually liked it and yup, it passed. All this crap is nothing more than a money generator....consider it a TAX because that's exactly what it is.

Or you could liken it to an organized crime syndicate. In both cases you pay for "protection" from rival organizations or even from the same organization.

If you pay them they'll "protect" you from dangerous people and foreign governments.

If you pay them they won't "disappear" you into jail.

If you work your way up in the organization you can become rich and powerful.

If you're loyal to the organization you'll get a share of the loot that's stolen from the rest of the people.

Yup, I don't see much difference between government and organized crime. Well, other than the fact that government has no competition to keep prices low and quality high.

I've been down this road with the Snowmobiles. If it weren't for the Clubs, State Assoc. and the National Assoc. we would have lost our trails years ago. Why... because someone in the State Capital or Washington who doesn't have a clue about what our hobby was about, decides to make laws with out any real information. And the same goes for the car hobby. Remember a lot of people in Washington & your state capital that feel we should all be driving electric Yugo's.

This morning I emailed my represenitive about the banning of aftermarket exhaust in Pennsylvania. Believe it or not he replied back with in an hour to tell me that he was not in favor of the bill either and that it didn't have much support in the legislature so he feels it will not move on to be voted on.

We do indeed.
My Intrepid has been passing it year after year, since I got the exhaust put on.

We have an annual state inspection. But I haven't heard of any problems with hot rods. I know a guy who has a rat rod that has a 392 Hemi with Zoomies... I'll ask to see how he got it inspected.

Thanks

Here on Long Island the older cars are "SAFTEY INSPECTION" only, lights, horn, wipers, brakes & tires.Cost $10.00.
