I got around to installing mine. I did not want to cut a hole in my car so I ended up drilling a hole in upper right corner of the L/R taillite lens. That way if I ever take it out all I have to do is replace the lens. Its a push-pull type switch and I bolted to the side of my battery box in the trunk. Ron

freakin sweet, Ron!! do you have pics of how you secured it to the battery box?

I always see this done and i just have to ask, is it really better to do it this way? I am going to have the battery in the trunk of my charger, and it will be a cold day in hell before i drill a hole in an original 68 charger tailight. Not knocking it, and it is definitely easier to change a tailight than fix a hole in the body. But is it worth it. To each their own i suppose

Very nice, I was thinking about doing this as I do have a few extra lenses but someone also gave me the idea of putting it behind the license plate and just remove the spring or plate so it's legal at the track.

After I weighed my options this seemed best. No way am I drilling a hole in my car so the lens just made more sense to me. I actually have a spare taillite lens. The lite still woks fine as the bulb is in the middle of the housing and this is in the upper right corner. To me it was a no brainer since its no big deal if I ever want to take it out and all I have to do is replace the taillite lens. But I have no plans of ever taking it out. If anything the car will get a little faster over the years.
This is the only pic I took in the trunk as you can see the top of the switch where the rod hooks to the switch arm. I bolted it to the battery box with 4 bolts with the bolt head and a good size washer inside the box and a lock washer and nut on the outside. It is very secure as the box is even stronger then I thought it was. Thanks guys , Ron

Well thought out solution. I love innovation. Thanks, Ron.

Thats a great idea, looks good...

I like it Ron, good solution. :jerk:

I was fortunate on my C-Body, it was too easy to do the previously mentioned license plate mod, invisible on the street and OK for the track with the plate wedged open (almost zero protection for rear-end collision though :icon_sad:).

I had mine in the licence plate itself on my 66' Coronet,AZ had a cactus in the middle so I was not obstructing the plate, but on the new build I was thinking about doing the same thing you did Ron, nice work sir.

Here's mine. I bought a flaming river cutoff switch and reworked the mount to fit into the original reverse light opening on the bumper. It also has provisions for a padlock to lock in the off position.
