BB fuel pump operation

Somebody please enlighten me as to what actually operates a mechanical fuel pump in a 383. I was putting it back together and I noticed there is nothing to activate the arm on the pump. It's not the same thing as on a SB is it? Maybe a picture of the apparatus if you have one. It must be in my parts someplace.:violent1:
