Here is a nice and easy elephant ear set up I used to run in my car. Stock pump housing milled 1/4" off the back side, aluminum Mopar Performance water pump, t-stat housing, Hamburgers ears The plate is set up with a poly bushing at each end which is plenty strong and not as harsh as metal to metal.
With this set up you can run stock type pulleus with no issues. Also the heater hose nipples were removed and AN plugs put in, you could reverse that if you still have heat
