Looking at what you guys use for wash and detail w/o turning on the hose and using a bucket of soap and my well water which has a water softener but still leaves salt residue or hard water stains when washing a vehicle.

My 69 GTX is black and fresh paint. I am awaiting the 30 days to wash it and wax it. However it is already covered in dust. I live in the country on dirt road and have hard well water.

What is the best way to get the initial dust off the car? Scratches I think are going to be inevitable.

Thanks. Jeff

Waiting 30 days before waxing it is fine, but you don't have to wait to wash it.

Get the hose out, no bucket needed. Or a rag or sponge. Just use your hands to gently clean the wet paint while streaming the water, using a sponge can trap abrasive bits and leave a mark and washing with your hands means you can feel if there's a bit of grit and take care of it.

To then avoid the hard water spots, dry the car, don't let the water just evaporate. Use a cloth designed to pull the water off the paint:

Like Photon mentioned, no need to wait 30 days for a wash. Spray as much of the film of dust of it with a hose or pressure washer. I use a soft microfiber wash mitt for the wash. Make sure the body is nice and saturated with water before applying the mitt/soap. As far as waxing it, once you do, put on a couple coats of wax....One right after the other. It will help keep the micro scratches/swirl marks down. Do not wash or wax your black car with the sun hitting it, or any color for that matter....Water spots galore and a good setting to put those very fine scratches in the paint when trying to dry, because of running a dry microfiber/chamois over dry/almost dry finish. A dry microfiber/chamois over a dry surface will immediately lay micro-scratches. Plan on waxing your car a lot, mainly because you'll be washing it a lot. Good luck and happy washing.

Yes, use a very soapy soap. Helps to lift the dirt. I like Turtle Wax car soap. It has the most suds of any that I've used. I don't like the idea of sprays or dry wiping, especially on black paint. A California dust mop works good on light dust after your paint has been waxed. Happy, sudsy washing!

The thing is, even on the DriWash website they say not to use it until 90 days after a paint job.

The '63 Plymouth Belvedere has been scuffed and re-squirt 35 years ago single stage....Ruby Red (original color)
the door jams, trunk, under hood, engine compartment, all original paint..
so I have to be careful not to use too much polish (once every other year)....
the dri wash does the rest....it has not been in water for 35 years....

hope this helps...
