Hello All,

What is the best carb for a 440? It's a 1970 engine, mild cam, stock head, intake, 4 speed and exhaust. If you got an idea, please indicate best place to buy.

Thanks again.

buy a holley 770cfm great carb .summit racing has it .i took off edelebrock 750. what a difference and looks great.

My near-stock 440 has a 750cfm holley 4160. Primary jets are 72's, stock plain secondary spring, stock white accel pump cam, .031 accel pump discharge nozzle, stock metering plate on secondary side, and 6.5 power valve.

Engine has mild cam, aluminum dual plane, and headers.
Throttle response is crisp. No hesitation or bogging.

Bought and rebuilt the carb with a kit for less than $100 using a shop manual, but holley sells them brand new too.

Hope this helps

750 cfm is a great size to go with.holley vs edelbrock is kinda a toss up.if holley, make sure to go with a vac secondary carb.pay attention to elec vs manual choke, depending on what you want.either carb should only need minor adjustment to work on your application. summit and jegs carry full line of both carbs and are virtually the same price on each.

I ran an Eddy 750 on my mild 440 and it ran great. All the carbs I own came from swap meets and tend to work fine after a cleaning and rebuild.

Builder put an 850 Demon on. 440. 415 RWHP. Works great.
