My ex-FIL & ex-MIL used to gift me a 3 pack of K-Mart tube socks. See if you can beat that?

To put things in perspective... the FIL retired from Ford Senior Management and the MIL retired from GM senior management. The MIL inherited multi-millions from her family in IBM stock... My ex-wife insisted in very expensive gifts for her parents.

My ex in-laws used to get me socks 3 dress socks and a pair of thermal socks. The thermal ones were the cheapest ones she could find at Shopko. At least the dress socks were ok.

Back in the mid '70's, my grandmother got me a tiny transistor radio in orange from Australia.... well, Paddy's Market to be precise.

Any Aussies out there will know that place is known for cheap junk, and it was. A $2 transistor radio. I would rather have had nothing.
Another year she knitted me a woolly jumper (sweater) and t was the worst thing I could have imagined....I think it wasn't even the cheapest wool....it was more like hay-bailing twine. Jeezus it was itchy. Never wore it after trying it on to 'please her'

Don’t remember my in laws ever giving me anything for Christmas. Most are dead now anyway.

While I recieved many over the years. The best gift they ever gave me was my wife!!

Omaha Steaks.
I drop the hint every year that we're not the biggest fans....doesn't matter.
Every dang year, here they come again.

If they are going to send steak through the mail (ugh) have em at least send you Meats by Linz. Far superior quality.

I snatched mine from them.

I made it easy on mine, Lisa's mother was a piece of work, trailer trash
I told them, her & any of her husbands, there after,
to buy for the kids not adults or me...
Never met her/Lisa's father/the sperm donor, no other blood siblings of hers...
(one of several husbands, her Mother went thru like 5)
Her step sisters & brother, weren't much different...
We (I later) rarely saw them except for holiday dinner, once in a blue moon
when we did, they'd drink all the booze in the house,
bring maybe a bag of chips, if that even & usually no presents...

I didn't care for me/or Lisa's sake, but not even for their nieces & nephews...

We'd put stuff under the tree, for the kids from Santa/Or in their name
so they didn't know of their worthlessness, In-Laws on that side...

They were/are total polar opposites of my side of the family...
We have our black-sheep too, but not like hers, she always apologized
I'd always say it not your fault, they are like that...

Strange her family was like that, because Lisa was a very giving person,
went out of her way to gift people, to my family & some she didn't hardly even know,
or only met (out of state) or talked with on the phone

Her/Lisa's grandmother Evelen (may she RIP) was a great seamstress,
great lady, made some nice clothes (esp. for the girls),
vest, skirts, blouses & jackets...
Eve made me a bedspread/quilted, stuffed with duck down
& matching sham & pillow cases...
It had a embroidered Horse on it, & on the pillow cases, a very cool present,
was nice & warm...
Must have taken her months to make...
I had for like 25 years, before my 3rd dog/puppy after time,
that pretty much killed it off...
I took it off & took me years to be able to throw it a way (sentimental value)...

MIL has decided that $1000 per couple is what we should have. I ask for cash. My wife get's clothes. This year she wrapped candy bars with $100 bills and wrapped those in a box so I would have something to unwrap. Sounds like a lot of extra work to me. LMAO
