Wondering what shocks any of you guys may be using to get your front end up high. I have a 63 440 2door post and want the front end up high so I can use my 29" tall tires and look like it's launching when it's standing still. Have cranked the bars up a tad but don't want to go too crazy on this and affect front too much, cheers in advance.

Shocks don't hold the car up, springs and torsion bars do.

I'm not sure I've seen air shocks for the front end?

Gonna have to crankup the torsion bars to get the height you want/ need for the tire clearance, shocks really donthave that much to do with it other than to dampen the bumps in the road

Do you have BB torsion bars in there? If you did an engine swap slant 6 that could cause a low riding front end.

was originally a 318 car, so may just have to crank em up more...

Somebody maybe able to tell the diameter of the 318 bar and the BB t bar. 361 available in 63 that I can't answer yes or no.

Looked up on Google had to dick around to find diameter. Not sure if they're right.
6 cyl-and some 318 -.860"
v8 two barrels .880"
383/426 -.900"
According to the info some 318's had 6 cylinder bars. This info covered 62 through 72, not precise.
Crank up bars you may need to check front end alignment.

My 2 cents, I'm using .960 T bars on my 65 Belvedere. Probably don't need that big of a bar, a bit of overkill, but I like mine sitting up a little. Remember to have your toe in reset when you get it where you want it. Changing the height changes the toe in.

And the caster, and the camber. ...................................MO

As was said, shocks DON'T hold up the car. Crank the bars up to the height you want and then check that the shocks you have still have travel. Take the weight off the front suspension before turning the adjusting bolts and, once back on the ground, roll the car back and forth a couple of times to settle the suspension and check the height side to side. There are NO air shocks for the front end, however there are air bag kits out there if you ever want to drop it in the weeds...
