When reaching 50-55 MPH, my rebuilt 440 engine in my '66 Coronet starts to skip, needing gas faster. A new 6 PSI fuel pump was used during the rebuild. Which mechanical pump should I upgrade to so this problem will stop?
For a street cruiser 6 PSI should be plenty as well as the 5/16" line. Did you do a fuel pressure and delivery check on the pump you have now? Sometimes the fuel pump push rod can wear down and when that happens you don't get the full stroke of the pump lever.
If the carb is carter AFB, 6psi is fine..I would first test fuel pressure @idle & under Rmp's....sounds like faulty accelerator pump.... also go through Air fuel mixture....check secondaries....
