Just looking for intake models to look into for my 68 coronet. I've got a Holley Double pumper on it. I believe it's about a 600 cfm
I may need to grab one soon. I would like to not have to run an adapter plate. Engine is pretty mild, but want torque more than anything. Mostly street, maybe take it to the drag strip occasionally just to see what she does. That kind of car. brand doesnt matter. Thanks!

The double pumper doesn't bog on your 318? Sounds like a lot of carb for that size engine

The whole thing runs like a champ right now. I just want to change the intake cause its old and beat up and causing headaches.

600 cfm should run fine on a 318 if adjusted good.make sure to stay with a split plenum intake when you get a new one.check your hood clearance, most of the good intakes wont fit under a stock hood.(like an edelbrock air gap)dont get talked into open chamber intakes, you will loose that torque you like.stick with the basic intakes from the diff manufacturers.like edelbrock performer.plenty of manifolds to choose from.

I'm thinking about this one right now, price is right, if it works with my car, I can buy it now.

The other one looks like it has a bunch of stuff I don't need.
Other than this one, the others were out of my price range.

So I think I'm going with the top one. I'll leave this up for a weekend and sleep on it, see if anybody can point me to some info as to why I should not, or which direction to go. (besides going back to a 2 barrell.)

Also the car has an MSD 6A, blaster coil and MSD DIstributor, the heads have been cleaned up, hardened valve seats. racing tranny, high stall converter. . . .Sorry I left that out earlier.

What kind of headaches? I'm still thinking thats a heck of a lot of carb meaning the double pumper for a 318 .. probably a lot for a stock 383. Stock intakes are still intakes .. shouldn't cause problems.

Its not a stock intake.

Sorry. my question is, "What is the best intake, for a 318 with a holley double pumper on it."

The intake i have now is an old beat up (but clean) Holley street dominator from the 80s. So it's not a stock intake, and stock intakes cost more than edelbrocks. Hell, a stock 2 barrel carb and the proper intake is a small fortune if they're brand new. So yeah, I'm just asking what the best intake is for a 318, with a double pumper. Cause thats what I have, and I'm not asking anything about the carburetor.

Thanks for your help, but lets stay on topic please! :)

edelbrock performer, that would be my choice.Flows good and dosent cause any hood clearance probs, and fits like a glove ....
hope this helps

If I don't hear otherwise, looks like for me it will be a coin toss between the edelbrock 2176 or the weiand stealth intake. The weiand looks more like a stock intake, takes the old thermostat housing, and is a little cheaper. The edelbrock has a better reputation, but in looking at numbers on various articles and forums, they're both very close.

Knowing me, come Monday, I'll go with the reputation of edelbrock and order that. Then I'm gonna get my buddy to powder coat the top to match the car. Should be pretty sweet!

If anybody on here has the weiand on a 318, I'd love an opinion on that.

Have you checked craigslist for intakes? I see them on there and other places for $100-175 various brands. Also I'm sure a few members and dealers on FBBO have some they would sell for that price. Understand if you are in a hurry though and don't want to wait.

A buddy and I ran a 72 318 Demon with an old Torker and a 600 DP, .480 lift cam, headers, MP ignition, pocket ported 360 head and lots of gear and it ran 13.50 @ 102. It was pretty slow off the line because we never threw in a good converter. We just threw it together with stuff we had laying around....and it surprised us for sure.

I have a 74 Roadrunner with a 318. It has an edelbrock 1406 600 cfm and it runs great. I have a single plane street master intake on it right now but im switching over the the Edelbrock performer intake because it is a dual plane and it will provide me with some more low end torque. I also have a 340 cam, with headers, duel exhaust, and #302 casting number swirl port heads on it so that may be why its not bogging out, but its a great set up!

Also, i bought my Performer Intake on ebay for $75. Looks brand new

Will definitely be looking at parts online before I order. Also going to try some who's I know that may have something laying around. Really appreciate all the input.

This, or a built 360 is what I eventually want to get to. Over the years, I've ammased a decent collection of good small block parts.
