Looking for a good quality 3/8 inlet and outlet mechanical fuel pump for my 440 engine. Looking for something that puts out no more than 6 psi, was looking at the edelbrocks but heard bad reviews about them and cant find any carters with 3/8s openings. Thanks

don't confuse 3/8" pipe thread inlet/outlets with 3/8" tubing. a 1/4" pipe thread is plenty good enough for 3/8" tubing. some pumps in the 6psi range only have 1/4" id passages.

I have the Holley pump. It delivers about 6-7 lbs of pressure. I tried a Carter but it put my pressure at 11. I was sure it would blow out the needle valves in the carburetor but it ran fine. I may use that Carter in the future with a return line to the tank. That would keep the gas cooler, prevent vapor lock and make more power.

That's a great addition! I run a bypass return system and hot fuel, vapor lock and hard starting after a shut down is long gone.

the edelbrock pump is a carter 6903 with 3/8" pipe inlet/outlet and some internal mods. I use carter 6903's but do some mods on them. the 3/8" pipe thread is good from braided hose fittings. 1/4" pipe threads, like the 6903 has, work well with metal tubing. both are 6psi pumps, but I have experienced some higher pressures on some.

Good info on the thread.....

Anyone doing a build...listen up!
Because...yes...some fuel pumps are better than others
And some are too pricey
