Hey Guys,

Where is the best place to get the woodgrain dash pieces restored for a 69 Charger?

I've seen the reproduction ones and they aren't right. I've heard the ones with decals don't look right either, and the decal shrinks.

Any source other than NOS out there?

Thanks !

As far as I know there is no one that "restores" dash wood grain panels........I went through that with one of my "other" cars ( 72 442...no one makes the original Rosewood panels...after market ones just do not look the same) and.....if they are not chipped, or scratched real bad (just faded) you can try ( and I would do this on a small area of say one of the rear door/quarter panel ones) some of the different vinyl restoration treatments (like that Nu-Vinyl stuff you see on TV or something like that.. I use 303 vinyl treatment and that seems to work very well) or maybe applying a clear coat of some sort...maybe it will bring back the look" you are looking for.....But again doing a search for dash wood grain panel restoration will come up with just places that "replace" them.....The only other choice is to find a really nice original dash, door panels, etc
..but I do have one question...
I am a "newbie" to Mopar's, have a 70 RR and have been thinking about getting a wood grain panel kit for my car..........what are the differences between the replacement panel kits for your year of car and the originals? Is it the "sheen" (gloss, semi-gloss, satin, etc..) or just not the same type of wood grain? Not sure if the different years of Mopar's had different type's of wood grain panels, (example...70-72 442's had Walnut, Burlwood & Rosewood, depending on the year....the reproduction Rosewood has the same grain but not the redish coloring that natural Rosewood has and also the reproduction panels have a very "dull" "sheen" not the semi-shine that the originals have)

Hope this helps
good luck

The woodgrain on my car is screened on, it's not vinyl. I have a set of the repro ones for my other car. They don't fit well and are too shiny. Woodgrain is wrong. Good for a driver, but not a serious restoration. I'm not sure what's available for 70. They used a different type of woodgrain pattern. Good luck with your car !
