Bethlehem. Pennnsylvania racer dies at Maryland dragstrip

Looks like it's an IHRA member track! A tech inspector didn't do his job, or starting line didn't! Not going to be good for the track (insurance wise) Sad that he died as a result of it!

sad stuff, RIP Lamont... why wouldn't the guy buckle up ??, they said his helmet was on the seat, but he had it on in photos at the starting line too, the belts were completely intact too, strange & really sad...

:iamwithstupid: That could have gone "way worse" for sure, sad to see his car get wrecked/tag the wall...
should've pulled the chute, when it 1st started to get out of shape, it will pull the car straight really fast, better to lose a round than wreck the car, as long as your still in your own lane anyway,

I saw a post on Moparts about the guy but I did not know him. Very sad to hear this. Its a good thing the guy in the other lane was on the ball also in Bucky's crash or as was said it could have been alot worse. Ron

People at the line state he was buckled in and wearing a helmet at the starting line. The pass was only supposed to be 1/8 mile. Apparently it was still accelerating beyond the 1/4. Investigation is pending. Until then we'll have to wait for the facts. Sad day indeed.
