The last Month or so I have had numerous dealing's with a couple of buisnesses as my 58 is moving along nicely on her Frame off resto however it amazes me how poorly some buisnesses have become.

I ordered a set of OEM style rear Leaf Spring's from Kanter that took 4-5 week's and cost a whopping $590.00! I thought that was a lot of money for a set of Spring's however I needed them so I pulled the trigger. After purchasing a bunch of other Part's that were priced fairly while waiting on the Spring's, Everything appeared to be going great. Well....................

On Thursday the Spring's arrived from Fed Ex, NO Packaging, BARE MEDAL, in pouring RAIN and dropped on my front step's which are Granite and Blue Stone, which cracked 2 of my Tile's, ten never rang the bell......

I get home to find my stair landing Granite Tile's cracked and surface rusty Spring's... I called Kanter pissed, however polite, and they guy promised to make it right. He call's me back 10 minute's later and state's the following.......
They Spring's come bare,
Kanter will not package them,
The Stair Landing is not their problem, call Fed Ex,
We can not help you.............................
OMG I went off, after all the money I spent there, they treated me like total garbage. They refused to do anything with this situation. I will never deal with them ever again, they are too expensive, they allow their shipper's to throw the package's, they will not help you when they screw up.

If you deal with them, BEWARE!!!!

Agreed on packaging - at least they could've oiled the springs for shipping. Regarding cracked tiles, your local Fed Ex driver is to blame. Call the local depot and yell.

Mancini ships their springs without packaging too although they are painted black and I agree that FedEx would be on the hook for the repairs to your tiles. Call them..

If you need rear springs at a reasonable price, contact St. Louis Spring Co. They can also supply them with 1" or 2" of additional arch to raise the car's rear end without resorting to air shocks.

From what I see you are your own worst enemy, you have a problem with everyone. You posted the same thing on Moparts and got the same answers.Maybe you should do your homework before pointing fingers ! The two companies you have complained about have been around for a "LONG" time and both have thriving business's,that should tell you something. And,no business has control of how the shipper handles their deliveries,I've been using USPS and FedEx since 2001 on a regular basis and have "never" had a problem with either one.

Also to "ktjgb",if you think FedEx sucks, try and file a claim with UPS !

I can understand your frustration.....but bare is the only way I've ever seen leaf springs ship.....and certainly your tiles wouldn't be Kanter's fault. WHen I get stuff delivered ups or FedEx and it's inclement weather, they always wrap it up in plastic bags. Even still, that's really not their responsibility. Especially since we live in the country and have the gate closed across the driveway when we are not there. I think you should try and persue FedEx for the tile claim and clean the springs up.

This forum post was brought to my attention by a friend who is a member. My Name Is Dan and I am the Customer service manager at Kanter Auto Products. I am fully aware of this issue. We did every thing we could do to assist our customer with fed ex. We called our Manufacturer who Filed the claim with FedEx. Our customer service rep did apologize for the issue at hand and tried to help. We are here to help ALL of our customers with our product and services. Joe, I apologize if you feel you were treated like garbage that was never our intent.

Take FedEx to small claims and show up with pictures of the damage as well as three estimates. FedEx will have to respond with an lawyer to address your claim. It's in their interest to settle the matter ASAP once in court, because they have to pay that attorney for each appearance(s). Believe me, I've been successful against many quite a few companies here in NY. Don't rely on/trust their "insurance reps" etc. File in court NOW. Get the ball rolling and preserve your rights NOW. The reps know the state of limitations, and they only try to drag the issue past them.

We had an issue with Fedex poking a hole in our screen door. We contacted them and the driver paid for the repair as they are independant contractors in FL and could have lost the contract due to the complaint. We then called Fedex back and told them it was O.K. Try calling Fedex and give them a chance to resolve it

Fedex cracked your tile, not Kanter. As for paint, I checked the website and don't see any text stating they come painted.

Sorry to hear of your problems and understand your frustration, but you should have asked about the paint and should be angry at Fedex, not Kanter. Many people who buy from Kanter want to do their their own restoration painting and would hate to have to strip the springs before painting.

It appears from their post that Kanter did do what they could to help and probably more than most would have done. I also agree that your problem should be with FedEx for the damage to your tiles. I would document the damage which would include photos and contact FedEx...this actually should have been done right away.

I would also like to thank Dan for coming on the boards and allowing us to hear what Kanter did to try to help you with a problem they did not cause.

That's why it pays to get your ducks in a row before placing the blame on the wrong party for all the world to see !!!
