my friend ask me to try to find out if a 1975 big block k-member will work in his 1979 dodge magnum and what mods are necesary. any help is greatly apprecitated.:parts book:

There was a version of the low deck big block 400ci Magnum, I'm not sure what years, or if anything is interchangeable or not, I'm no Magnum expert by any stretch of the word....... maybe you could also try over at the Mopar engine swap experts, Schumacher Creative Services @ www.engine-swap.com

I also have a 79 magnum and put a 440 in it. I got the K Member from a 74 b body and it fit perfectly. Any K-Member from 74 -78 B body's will fit.
I previously tried the small block K-member with modified mounts and although it worked, the engine was not sitting right, it was higher than stock and had clearance problems to deal with.
Do yourself a favor and put the big block peice in the car and forget that Schumacher Creative stuff. It;s not the same as the original

thanks for the info, ed will be happy to hear this news so he can cet started. another question is whet did you do with the trans mount.

My car had a 727 from the factory (E58) car so I had nothing to do there just switched to rig block tranny and that's it.

I used the swap kit with a 400 BB excellent results in my '79 Magnum.
The proper K frame would be a nicer install with the stock brackets which are stronger.
