I need help with pump brackets. I want to replace my leaking TRW pump with a nice Saginaw pump I have but I need big block brackets. I found a set new on 440Source.com for $39.99 + shipping but I have seen somewhere that they are for non-air only and my car has A/C. So I need a set like what would be found on something like a first gen Cordoba or most any big car from '72 to '78 with a big block and A/C. I have not been able to find any pictures of one of these so I don't really know what they should look like. I did see brackets on a buddies Ram with a 400ci in it and the pimp bracket bolt to the A/C bracket and the pump sits fairly high on the engine and I'm guessing that is not what the cars have on them. Any help, thoughts, input, pictures, parts will all help.

Thanks,
DC

I have a '68 Satellite with a 383 and A/C and I want to put a later model Saginaw pump on it. About a million 400's were built with A/C & power steering but it sure is hard to find one to see what the brackets look like. I would just order the brackets from 440 Source but after being told they are different I thought about it and it makes sense, the pump would need to be further towards the front of the car so the A/C & alternator belts can run in back.

The later pump brackets won't work due to the water pump housings that changed the coolant inlet location. Those late style brakets, 73-78, will not work with the inlet hose on the left side as a 68 would be.
I don't see why a 70-72 bracket wouldn't work as I am thinking it's like the 66-69 trw's and federals that work with or with out a/c, same pump and pullie location. It's the P.S. pullie that will be the factor here, you will need a B.B. 70-72 pullie.

Cool, thanks John, I'll start looking for pulleys. All I need to is get the alignment right so it could be off of most any type of car. Are the fender top signals in good enough shape to get re-chromed? If so I would like to get them from you.

Thanks,

Have you tought about resealing your TRW? Kits are avalible and it's not hard.
I just sent those pics to your Gmail account

I looked at it, looked at replacing it with another one. The pump I have has a bad tank, looks like someone repaired with epoxy, the shaft bearing/bushing has a bit of play in it and the final decision maker is the play i the pump gears. I looked at just buying a replacement but no one has it, you send it off and get it built and then it cost a bunch plus shipping. The Saginaw on the other hand I can buy anywhere for $50-60 plus I already have a nice one in the basement and they were offered on these engines so the brackets are available so I figured that would be my best bet. I just needed a little info as to setup. I already know my existing hoses fit and I can order the brackets from 440 Source, it was the lining up I didn't know about. I would like to run double belts around both the water and steering pumps. I have a crank pulley off of a truck that will work, just need the steering pump pulley and the water pump pulley both double grooved. This would eliminate the idler pulley on the right side for the water pump and also with double belts it have it's own built i safety factor as this will become my daily driver.
